The lawn mower is an inescapable tool if you want the grass plant to form a dense, smooth mat, constantly rejuvenated with new shoots. Natural lawns are formed by animals that graze. The first technical tools for keeping the grass low were the cut and the lien, today we cut the lawn with machines of different kinds.
There should be room for a simple compost plant in the garden, with a few square meters of surface area sufficient. You can either add the compost as high or in containers. (For example, see a suitable compost container.) The material is PVC plastic. Other materials made of compost containers are wood.
1. Cut the first time in spring when the grass plant has begun to grow and last time in the fall when growth has stopped. 2. Never cut with bad knives and a badly cleaned machine. 3. Never cut less than 4 cm. As a rule, always keep the mower set to at least this position. 4. Cut often, preferably every 4 days, if the carpet is dense and lush.
With vertical cutters, you shed shallow parallel grooves in the bottom of the lawn so that moss and grass residues are torn up, the soil is aired, the rotation is improved so that water can penetrate. The slits should not be deeper than 6-8 mm. The spacing between the slots is approximately 30 mm. Before and after vertical cutting After vertical cutting, it is advisable to top up and fertilize the lawn (read about fertilizer).
When the lawn is old and moss and weeds have taken over, it can be rejuvenated by turning, soil improvement, fertilization and soaking . It takes a few months from the wreck of the work until the grass is ready to go. First we cut the grass (weed) as short as possible, best with a motor clipper, after which all loose material is racked - and will be an excellent addition to the compost .
When the elves danced, the grass was sweating under their fast feet. It is a carnivorous mussel that forms most of the witch rings and in Danish the mushroom is called "elledans-cartilage hats". No other cultivated plant is treated like the grass plant. It is forced to grow tightly, forming a lumpy mat, a number of times from spring to autumn, cutting off large parts of the productive leaf mass, trampling it on and subjecting it to unmerciful wear.
Lean the lawn, if possible, from the house, for the sake of water drainage. Ideally, when lawn, lawn should lean slightly for water drainage. In conjunction with the house, it should lean from the house and not against. Swings and elevations are leveled out carefully, unless they are due to special causes, such as mountains in the day or a brook.
It's not everywhere that the lawn mower comes to eg. close to a bush cake, next to a tree trunk, at a rocky part or a pond. In gardens with many twists and turns, and where a machine does not arrive, some hand saws or a much more technically developed tool, called trimmer or scrubber, may be required, depending on the capacity.
When calculating the cutting height of the lawn and measuring from the ground, even though the height of the blade increases, the knives are so far down that the lawn at the mowing becomes brown instead of green. The reason for "brownish" as high above the ground may be due to either long intervals between the clippings and / or on a thick layer of certain residues in the carpet.
Weeds in the lawn are always a matter of competition, where the strongest wins. Here you will find tips and the most you may need to know to remove and avoid weeds in the lawn. Grass grows where you do not want them. A lawn should preferably consist of grass plants only, with uniform greenery and so few discrepancies as possible, weeds are deviants to the highest extent.
The plants in the seed determine what kind of lawn it will be. If it: - Get started and establishes quickly - grows so dense that weeds do not fit, - gives runners who quickly form new shots - will withstand wear and tear - have good cutting properties - get a naturally low growth - greens uniformly - resist all diseases - will not rubbish with large amounts of dead leaf mass - will be tolerant of shadow, drought , floods, environmental poisons.
Fresh lawnmower is a very valuable material, either collecting after cutting - or remaining. In the process of cultivation, it is transformed into soil rich in moles and nutrients. As often happens, putting the lawn among the garbage is largely wasteful of resources. If you do not want to compost or leave it left, there is a third excellent alternative: to use it as ground cover in the other garden.
"The grass plant is the last of the cultivated plants of the garden that die for it's not raining" - so called it among gardeners. Heat waves below The summer can shorten the grass plant to lose both the color and the ability to grow. However, between the drying periods, the grass recovers the greenery in a very short time.
