Nowadays, plasterboards are used in most inner walls and ceilings. The reasons for the popularity of the material are many, including plasterboard fireproof , smooth working and sound proofing.
However, if you use wrong fasteners in plasterboard, it's hard to see or remember the benefits. Then you only wish that there was something "real" behind the disc to attach the nail.
Although plasterboard for roof and walls indoors is usually no thicker than 13 mm, you can, with the right fastener, load the surfaces with several kilons per attachment point. For example, in a single X hook, you can hang up to 5 kilograms of heavy objects.
The weight that the wall and bracket will maximally hold is always indicated with a good margin. It is not uncommon for tests to be carried out with more than twice the hard load - without either support or fasteners folding.
If you stay within the specified weight limits and screws or nails correctly, you can trust that the keynote or family portrait sits where it should.
When attaching or attaching items weighing more than 10 kilos per attachment point, always use a screw and plug. There are plastic and metal plugs.
Regardless of how these transform, the principle is always that the plug should form a firm grip on the screw on the back of the plasterboard.
When drilling for the plug it is important that you have the right dimension on the drill bit. The hole should only be so large that you can push the plug with some resistance.
For most packages, you get the advice and instructions that you need for a good attachment. If you buy a plug and a screw separately, you will also get an indication of the dimension of the screw you should choose.
Get the right screw length by adding the length of the plug and the thickness of the object you will screw with the screw.
There are several types of plugs and plugs for plasterboard and the variety you choose depends entirely on what the screw or the hook will hold.
If you want to hang the boards of regular size or other ornaments, it usually suffices with single or double X hook.
However, heavier items should always be screw and plug.
If you combine a so-called grub hook with a screw and plug, you will get a stable hanger for a less shelf. Such attachment carries about 15 kilos per fastening point.
If you want even better load power, instead, choose a metal pile, whose attachment points can carry up to 30 kilos in both walls and ceilings. Another variant for heavier items is screw with rubber expansions.
When placing lampshades on the ceiling, you can also choose "flat" plastic or metal plugs. These can require a slightly bigger hole, so you can get the folded wings.
When the plug is in place, the wings fold out and rest on the back of the plasterboard. The center of gravity is thus distributed over a larger area than with the normal plug.
When screwing shelves or cabinets in the wall, you should calculate the gross weight of the furniture, ie the filled cabinet or shelf. Discs, books and porcelain weigh a lot more than you might think.
Even though plaster walls and ceilings have the right weight load, there are times when you should, if the rules are made of wood, attach to this. This applies to clothes rods, heavy chandeliers, cabinet fixtures and real bookshelves.
